Prof. Rainer Römer
Rainer Römer has officially signed with FANTASY PERCUSSION.
Rainer Römer grew up in Würzburg and played in various rock and jazz bands long before his university studies. In 1974, he entered the Würzburg University of Music, studying under Prof. Fink. Together with the Würzburg Percussion Quartet, he became a winner of the "Federal Youth Artists Concert Selection" in 1980/81. In 1984, he also won an award with the quartet at the Gaudemus International Music Competition in Rotterdam. Since 1985, he has been a member of the Frankfurt Modern Ensemble. He has also created numerous works for radio, including "seven seconds" produced by Hessischer Rundfunk (HR) in 2001. In 2002, his collaborative work "Staubmarsch" (HR 2002) with Ottmar Hörl and Dietmar Wiesner received the "Intermedium-Award" from Bavarian Broadcasting. In 2004, he was appointed professor at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. His radio play "Oberman" (HR/2006) was named "Radio Play of the Month." In 2010, his portrait CD "Nemetom" was released by the Modern Ensemble Media Company. Other radio plays include "Hochzeit aus Licht" (SWR, 2015) and "Der Mann in der Menge" (SWR, 2019). His percussion works have been published by a Norwegian publishing house.
